crescendo family music

Meet Our Teachers

Christi Gell, Director & Teacher

Christi Gell grew up in Houston, and her husband, Charlie, and their two children have lived in The Heights since 1996. One of the great things she enjoys about being the Director at crescendo is bringing music to her own community: she loves running into our crescendo families at the store or on the hike-and-bike trail (usually recognizing the kids before the parents <smile>). Christi is actually a geologist and works in oil and gas, but has loved music ever since her dad gave her a Tchaikovsky record and her mom gave her a Beach Boys cassette tape as a young child. She got introduced to Music Together® in 2010 when she did classes with her daughter, and immediately fell in love with the program and wanted to bring that same love and joy of music to other families. Christi spends her free time with her family, playing piano, running & walking in the neighborhood, and playing flute in the Houston Pride Band.

Lindsay Miles, Teacher

Lindsay grew up in Amarillo, TX, and began singing and playing the violin at a very young age.  She performed many times with the Amarillo Opera while attending Amarillo Community College, and at 21, decided to finish her musical studies here in Houston at UH, where she received her Bachelors.  She then went on to receive her Master of Music at Rice University in 2006.  Lindsay has worked in the construction industry since 2008, but has always kept her passion for music in sight.  In 2011, Lindsay met her now husband Adam. They have a son, Wally, who already possesses a love of music and is a regular in our classes, and a new daughter, Hazel, whom Lindsay is excited to introduce to the crescendo family!  Lindsay enjoys working with children of all ages, helping assist in their growth and musical development, and looks forward to passing on her passion of music to others.

Anna Cooper, Teacher

Anna Cooper studied Music Education, with an emphasis in voice, at California State University of Chico. She was a member of multiple choral ensembles and performed as soloist at the Chico Bach Festival, and served as choir director at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. She graduated with a Master’s degree in Sacred Music at the University of Notre Dame, 2014, where she studied voice and choral conducting. She co-directed the Notre Dame Children’s Choir Descant Chorus for the 2013-14 season. A collaborative artist with student and faculty choral projects took her to perform at the Festival de Musica Sacra in Quito, Ecuador in 2013. Since moving to Houston, she has continued to pursue music as a choral scholar at Our Lady of Walsingham and as a member of Houston Bach Society.
